Network information (AS35485)
We take pride in our network and see it as a key asset to our own business and our clients. Built upon strong understanding of the underlying technologies and protocols that make up the Internet, we have developed our content delivery network to facilitate the requirements of today and tomorrows media rich environment. By drawing on the experience of our staff, embracing new technologies and providing unrestricted access to the world wide audience we see our network as a platform that our customers can rely on to build their business to reach its true potential.
Berkeley IT operate a multi homed network, allowing us to leverage the strengths of tier1 backbone providers along with direct connectivity, known as peering, to local ISP's over dedicated Internet exchange points. Our Cisco core routers exchange routing information with upstream providers and peers; dynamically selecting the best path to each destination on the Internet, thus ensuring optimal performance and redundancy in the unlikely event of failure of one or more of our routers or upstream providers.
In addition to operating from several London datacenters we maintain control of our own IP address space independently of any upstream providers; ensuring we are not dependent on or tied to a single supplier.
Our network operates exclusively on hardware from Cisco systems, with redundant Cisco 7200 series routers and Catalyst switches utilising industry standard BGP4 and OSPF dynamic routing protocols throughout our network. We keep spare parts onsite to minimise the downtime caused by hardware failure and utilise diverse fibre routes for our intersite connectivity.
We work hard to ensure no part of our network is oversubscribed, proactively upgrading our upstream links and adding additional providers to ensure we maintain significantly more capacity than is required even during peak periods.
